Rogue Space - MECHS Rulebook is here!

Happy 4th of July! It is my 30th birthday and the release of Rogue Space - MECHS. I am really excited to bring this to you, so I will keep it short.

It is a pocketmod style booklet which forces me to keep the rules concise, and it also hits the same fashion as the classic free Rogue Space rulebook. These rules can be played with the level you get from just that booklet.

I am also including blank character/mech sheets, as well as abridged NPC mech sheets. The NPC mech sheets are meant to make the referees job easier in sending baddies at your characters. Some aspects of them are explained in the rulebook.

Please feel free to offer feedback and email me with any questions or suggestions. This isn't the end of the Rogue Space - MECHS project. An adventure module and additional rules and components are planned for the future. Jarom and I are brainstorming over that stuff.

  1. This looks excellent. We're going to have to try these rules out and build a few custom Mechs...

What sort of an adventure are you planning? It's sure to be cool.

  2. It's a simple premised near future war. Most of the modern governments are in existence but shifted around a little. It's mainly to provide a stock setting for the adventure where your players' mech task force is sent to investigate an incident and stumble into something greater.

  3. Sounds great. We think that it might be fun to match-up some Mechs against a few Rilligong...

Are you considering doing a few Mechs as Paper Minis?

    1. I actually am. My brother has done up some illustrations for mechs, but mostly Ive been making my own with images from google. I was going to do a post about that within the next few days, show off what we have been using.

    2. And the Rolligong would be a perfect. Size them up and it would be a cool man and machine vs alien threat. I'm not revealing too much about my game im doing because my players are still in it so "spoilers".

  4. If you're looking for some help with the Paper Minis, we recommend joining the Cardboard Warriors forums. Or just click through to the various tutorials. People have been very helpful and supportive over there and they are welcoming to new-comers.

RE: spoilers--we definitely understand that. We've held back from a few things as we wanted to play-test them first.

You're both doing good stuff. We're looking forward to seeing where you both take Rogue Space.

  5. Happy 30th MJ and this is fantastic work! Let me know if you'd like to have these included in Rogue Transmission #2? My wife is already working on her ULTIMATE MECH design and thanks for expanding the Dark Frontier!

  7. Thanks from me too. It looks very well done, with plenty of material packed in, and it's very smartly presented as well - those sheets are just sleek. Like Fenway's wife, I'm already thinking about the potential. Time to get tinkering.

  8. This item will not download for me no matter what I do. Any options for someone who's computer and mediafire don't get along (who also loves Mechs and is a big fan of your work)?

    1. That is the Zenislev Wanzer from Front Mission 3. I got a lot of inspiration to this project from front mission.

    2. I knew that sucker looked familiar! I played FM3 several years ago and enjoyed it a lot, even though I sucked at it. Favorite moment was attacking a group of tanks and having the left arm of one of my wanzers nearly blown off in a single hit! I spent about five minutes in stunned silence, gawking at the screen, lol.

    3. I really love the Front Mission series. Again I imagine the Wanzers when I created these rules. You can have your left arm blown off again by a group of tanks.
